Overview
Pet Translator is an entertainment app that turns short pet video clips into humorous, shareable translations. This policy explains what information the app and our backend services collect, how we use it, and what we do not store.
We do not require an account or sign-in. The app is not medical or behavioral advice — it is for fun only.
Information we collect
Anonymous device identifier
When you use translation features, the app generates and stores a random identifier on your device. This ID is sent to our servers so we can enforce a daily usage limit. It is not linked to your name, email, phone number, or other personal profile.
Usage date
The app sends your device’s local calendar date (year-month-day) with requests so daily limits reset at midnight in your timezone, not at a fixed server timezone.
Translation request details
When you request a translation, the app may send:
- A single small still image extracted from your clip (resized to 256×256 pixels)
- Your chosen language, comedic persona, and related preferences
These are used only to produce species, mood, and dialogue results for that request.
Device permissions
Depending on how you use the app, you may grant access to:
- Camera — to record pet clips
- Photos / media library — to pick clips and save exported videos
- Microphone — only if required by your device for video capture
You can revoke permissions in your device settings at any time. Some features will not work without the relevant permission.
What we do not store on our servers
- Your full video clips or photo library
- Still images from your clips after processing is complete
- Exported shareable videos
- Translation history or dialogue text
- Your name, email, or account credentials (no accounts in v1)
Still images sent for analysis are processed in real time and discarded immediately afterward. They are not saved to permanent server storage.
Information stored on your device
The app keeps recent translation results locally so you can replay, re-export, or share them. This may include:
- Paths to your clip and exported video files
- Species, mood, persona, language, and dialogue text
- Your anonymous device identifier
Local history lives in the app’s cache and is limited to a small number of recent items. It is removed when you uninstall the app or if the operating system clears app cache. There is no cloud sync in v1.
To keep a permanent copy of an export, use Save to gallery or your device’s share options.
How we use information
- Run image analysis and generate humorous dialogue
- Enforce fair daily usage limits per device
- Operate and protect the service (e.g. abuse prevention, reliability)
- Improve the app within this policy’s limits
We do not sell your personal information.
Third-party services
Pet Translator relies on external providers to operate. We describe their role in general terms below. Each provider processes data according to its own privacy policy.
Cloud hosting and API infrastructure
Our backend runs on a cloud edge platform. It receives translation requests, applies usage limits, and returns text results. A managed database on the same platform stores only anonymous usage counters (device identifier + date + count), not your media.
AI and machine-learning providers
Image analysis and dialogue generation are performed by third-party AI inference services. For each translation request, a resized still image and text context (species, mood, persona, language) may be sent to these providers. We configure our integration so that images are used only for that request and are not retained by us on our servers after processing.
Device text-to-speech
Spoken dialogue uses your device’s built-in text-to-speech engine. Speech synthesis happens on your phone; voice data is handled by your device manufacturer or OS provider under their policies.
App distribution
If you install the app from an official app store, that store’s terms and privacy practices apply to download, updates, and store-account data.
Data retention
| Data | Where | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Still image for analysis | Our servers / AI providers | Processed per request; not kept on our servers |
| Daily usage counter | Managed database | Per calendar day; not tied to identity |
| Translation history | Your device | Until you clear cache or uninstall |
| Anonymous device ID | Your device | Until you clear app data or uninstall |
Children’s privacy
Pet Translator is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us using the support channel on the app’s store listing and we will take appropriate steps.
Security
We use HTTPS for network communication and keep API credentials on the server side only. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we work to protect data within reasonable industry practices for a consumer entertainment app.
Your choices
- Stop using translation features at any time
- Revoke camera or storage permissions in device settings
- Clear app cache or uninstall to remove local history and device identifier
- Save exports to gallery only when you want a permanent copy
International users
Our service may be operated from infrastructure in various regions. By using the app, you understand that processing may occur where our hosting and AI providers operate, subject to this policy.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the app after changes means you accept the updated policy.
